FRA ANZHELIKO
St. death. Dominica.
Fra Anzheliko
In the third decade of the 15th century only one-two artists realized Masaccio’s innovation. The Dominican friar from Fyezole whom called Fra Anzheliko and who is known today that he was nearly an age-mate Masaccio was one of them. One of the most precious relics of Louvre are with St Crucifixion. Dominic is a fresco, coming from that monastery of San Domenico where calling was defined and Fra Anzheliko’s creativity began. From the same monastery slightly earlier Louvre acquired an altar with Coronation of the Virgin, Maria (see).
Crucifixion of became one of the first certificates that Masaccio’s frescos received a response and a comprehension. The embodiment and simple humanity, and such quality as the tridimensionality which is laconically emphasized with side light found in it. The dying Christ who dropped the head on a brachium bears to the image on the altar executed by Masaccio in Pisa very a strong resemblance. When the fresco was transferred from the monastery and restored, palate behind figures was more dark that strengthened severe realism of images and localized light which at once integrated and strengthened action.
In Baptism of blood of Saints Kosma and Damian of Fra Anzheliko shows feeling of the nature and eyes, well “delivered” on a landscape of Tuscany: through towers and Woods from them precisely adjusted intervals we see the rising lines of hills with the far settlements crowning them. It is surprising that this deeply religious artist who was completely belonging to a spirit world became the great opener of the world of daily things.
Except Louvre and Italy, it is impossible to study more better anywhere that program which Dominican friars of San Marco intended to the reformed religious art. In Louvre where near Fra Anzheliko are provided also his teacher Lorenzo to Monaco (see Christ in Garden of Gethsemane), and its follower Benozzo Gozzoli (see Deification of St. Thomas Aquinas), to I.Q. and talent of the “angelic” artist who became engaged to devotion and godliness is well visible to.
