Vilnyov-climbed-Avignon belongs Pieta of to the considerable works of the leaving Middle Ages era. From the moment of appearance of this work at one of exhibitions in 194 the dispute on accessory to its some local Mediterranean school which was looked for in all coastal territory erupted, beginning from Lisbon and cuming Messina. Today this pattern is considered a masterpiece of the most remarkable of the masters living in Provence about 145 – master Angerran Karton (or Sharrantona). About 141 travailled in Lana, it in 1447 was justified in Avignon where at the beginning of the 145th two considerable works having lines of looking alike the above-named pattern were framed by it.
The style of painting Angerrana Kartona is not similar to any painting of this time at all. Figures are grouped kruglyashchegosya inside a circuit which at first sight seems primitive, and in case of more fixed gazing appears both distinguished, and monumental. In this diagram all characters are penetrated by identity and an originality.
The atmosphere of a pattern as if is penetrated by the sounding tune. The St. Ioann’s hand supporting Christ’s head from which shine proceeds, with tenderness as if touches mandoline strings. Musical and lyrical associations remind us that this pattern comes from the region of Languedoc; can be, this masterpiece also shall expect the stunning opening because in it something remained from poetry of troubadours – the poetry perceived in the XX century as something the absolutely modern and eternally enduring. Trouble of lamentation is expressed in a pattern with rare restraint. No external expression could pass with such force the tragedy of this body which is drawn out as if in a dream. We are captured by singleness of gestures. Against the background of the desert horizon, this scene lit in a medieval way by twilight, gray and gold light appears as the inexpressibly considerable and majestic.
